Effets of long lasting treatments with cardiovascular drugs on erectile function

Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases are pathological chronicle states needing long lasting treatment. Cardiovascular drugs commonly have bad reputation for their side effects on erectile function.

However, following the data of the literature, this responsibility is not so cleaaly assessed and often controversial.

We should remenber that:

  • - Sexual status should be known before cardiovascular drug prescription.

  • - In case of sexual side effects, chronological data may be helpfull to assess the responsibility of the drug.

  • - Remind that erectile dysfunction is not always a side effect of this treatment.

  • - Dose range and number of molecules should be as low as possible
