Spermocytogramme: Mode opératoire dans les oligo-asthénospermies extrêmes

Sperm morphology: Analysis in case of severe oligoasthenozoospermia

Abstract

Sperm morphology can be determined in semen analysis before ICSI, even in the case of severe oligozoospermia, by modifying technical procedure. The semen must be concentrated by centrifugation, a short (<1 cm) semen smear must be prepared with 5μl of semen on a glass microscope slide and at least 20 spermatozoa must be examined under immersion. Although sperm morphology does not affect the outcome of intracytoplasmic sperm injection, the objective consists of informing the couple and organising the IVF laboratory work which is longer in the case of severe teratozoospermia.
